The one in MIAMI…

Had another performance on last Tuesday the 27th. Went down in a club called Miami. It was behind Hilton. It was supposed to be some local band thing on Tuesday and a friend managed to get some slots to play there. We were going to do tracks we’ve performed before like ‘Old Skoll Rocka’(DanceSport Party 2008) and ‘Journey’(Swinburne Carnival 2006) both by Pop Shuvit, so we didn’t really have to practice much. Just did one on Monday and another the day of the show. Another friend was performing for that gig and one of the friend’s friend too. I went first.

Jewl ma' man!

Jane!

Yeap....

I did manage to loose interest while waiting for our turn to go ‘on stage (there’s none…it was just a floor). We were supposed to be the 3rd but then since we were nobody we were put as the last to perform. Worse part was that we were put after some ‘big guns’ for the underground scene…like the Sarawakian all girl band from last year Blast Off, XO and a girl named Sheryl sum tin’…

Great, just what we need…performing after some well established band. I guest they performed around 10 songs…before we get our turn. By then I didn’t care much about the thing, just wanted to do my thing as fast as I could and go home. Finished everything around 12.45am. Went off with Kee Kieng and drop him off in campus where he park his car.

It was a better performance for both songs. I didn’t miss a single word from the songs like last time... : )

Had fun too since I thought I wouldn’t have another chance of playing with my all time drummer… ; )

100 days dah…

Sigh…its been a hundred days since Apeet pass away. Last Monday(26th May) was Allahyarham, so called by the Malays as ‘makan seratus’. There were more friends coming for this one compared to the 'makan 40'.

For those who didn’t know, Allahyarham Apeet pass away on 17th February due to severe injuries from an accident he was involve in while going back from a futsal game some where in the Demak area. It was told that he was avoiding what he thought to be a motorcyclist lying on the pavement of the road after falling down due to being intoxicated. However it was only the motorcycle was on the road and the rider was already on the road side. As he was trying to avoid the motorcycle…his car swerves and hits a tree on the side of the road. The tree hit him directly on his right side…

Apeet's car...

Me and Apeet wasn’t that close…but I still felt his absence due to the fact that he was suppose to be the President of the Football Club this year, and I have never play a game with him. He was my junior in Green Road but even back then we weren’t well acquainted with each other. It was when he started coming to Swinburne after finishing PoliTek that I started to mingle with him.

No. 1!

Last Saturday, April the 24th, my campus had its Swinburne Night 2008…kinda like a mini Prom. It went down in the Auditorium. I’ve been practicing for this event since the week before. Performing ‘Superstar’ by Lupe Fiasco and ‘Stronger’ by Kanye West, I was the second performer after a band named The Simpsons.

I was really nervous actually…coz I dind’t had any proper rehearsal or sound check before the event and through out all my practices I keep forgetting lyrics here and there. And it’s almost been a year since I performed, not including the Dance Sport Party last month. Plus the fact that I had to go back home twice after going down to campus due to the fact that I forgotten my tickets and the second time was because I forgot my shades…can’t perform without them…too nervous.

Plus I was suppose to buy a pair of white pants at Spring before the rehearsal but it turn out that the pants was to translucent. So the second trip to home was also to pick up my older pants. Still looks cool though.

During the performance, everything went well till Mr. Kee Kieng cut off half of my 2nd verse for ‘Superstar’ coz he thought his chorus is in. I had to go behind him and tell him to repeat the chorus again to cover up the

time gap. Heh…this is what lack of rehearsal give you. When its time for ‘Stronger’, it was smooth sailing all the way till the end. One of the Bboys did his thing for me too….cool lah!

Then its time for dinner. I saved my foods prior to my performance coz didn’t want to throw every thing up on stage. Our table was next to the buffet table so it was kinda easy for us to get the foods. It was easy for the freeloader too… : )

Got some other pretty good performer too…theres the 3 Anime girls… Koh’s very own band… Guest performance like Alda, the Bboys, Eika’s group and Farra, as always blew away the audiences.

Koh Band(as stated on the cards)

By the way, Alda was crowned as Swin King 2008. That girl Naomi is the Queen. Can you see how happy they are? : )

Swinburne Nite King & Queen...

And finally..the moment of truth… time to know who’ll be awarded Best Performance.

The guy who got 1st prize...
Im not sure who got which one but between the 3rd and 2nd was the DanceSport Club’s President and the band that performed the Japanese song….all I know…

I got FIRST PLACE!

Hah haa…..after performing for this event for 2 years I finally bag the 1st place home.

Thank you to the voters…

Won RM200…

Fame and recognition…

Another last performance after that. Decided to do ‘Stronger’ only. After the thing me and my friends fooled around the cafeteria… climb up the outdoor dining roofs… took pictures here and there… Then off to Mc D.

Group pic wit the gang... Mr. Rez as cool as always.. ; )

The ones below...

Don't ask me why he fell..

Heh..even though they didn’t voted for me and went crazy for the 50¢ per Pussy dude instead…still bought them Choco Tops.. : )

Up next...Prom Nite..

Very Cultural Indeed

Last nite I went to the Swinburne International Cultural Night at the Auditorium. It was not as I expect it to be..

Before entering the Audi I was "greeted" by the Indian rice art on the Lobby's floor. Then once entering the Audi...I could see students from the African countries as well as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are all dressed up in their traditional attire...cool lah.

Its started with some performances...well the whole night was about performances and slide presentation about these countries presented by the students from each countries... Owh..there was this fashion show during the first hour of the event. And there was also this drama thing about how the Indians, Pakistans and Bangladeshis were divided by the Brits and how they gain thier indipendence. There was also this an Iban dance by a couple of girls which was the only non-international act last night. Perhaps if they're having it again next semester I could do my Zapin thingy with some old school friends. Heh...the good ol' days.

Any ways after that things start to be boring....as usual where every Swinburne event would end up being boring after some time. But...things started to turn around when there was this two Tanzanian dudes performing some Tanzanian rap songs on the stage. Hip Hop...food for my soul.. : )

The songs pretty catchy even though we didn't understand them. It got some "tukü tukü" ride thing in it... Quite entertaining. Owh...by this time Apis, Adi and Koh was there...later joined by Jerry, Awang and Syam.

Then Abdul and a friend went on stage and performed some other Hip Hop songs that, even though we didn't understand it, was still entertaining.

Lastly there was this guy who freestyled on the DJ's track. Sick man...pretty sick rhymes.. Everyone was entertained by him. Wish I could free style like him. He was freestylin' bout how he came to Swinburne and his experinces here.. Cool...

We ended our day by watching Koh changing the flat tire of his Kancil.... emphasize on the word "watching"... : )

Conclusion; I realize that theHip Hop community in Swinbunre has grown... so it seems like I could carry on with my plan which I've cook up since a couple of Sems ago... Maybe I could realize it next Semester.

Yeah...

First time ever in Swinburne...

BODOH LAA!!!!

Apparently the NISSAN project wasn't done as I though it had. The people from NISSAN wanted me to add in some more clips from their General Manager's talks. I had to re-build the whole thing again last Monday...but was only able to finish it by today. All bcoz of my burner which keep having problems lately....perhaps is should send it to HP again.

Borrowed a friend's laptop the whole day to burn it, so I guess that guy should get some thing when I get my money...and now I soo hoping to get more out of it.

On the other hand yesterday me and my friends had a futsal game just among us friends. About 14 of us came for it. It was kinda fun considering its a game among us friends so there's no pressure to win or stuff. My team was Apis, Adi n Amir....some of the people I always wanted to play with. There was only 4 of us so we had to borrow one guy from a resting team to be our keeper. Thats good news for me as I dont have to be the goal keeper for the whole night.

Our first game was very good as we won both sets and I even manage to score a goal!. Heh... its been a while since I scored any. Being a defender, I prefer to stay and guard our goal post with the goal keeper.

Unfortunately some thing did suck last nite....one being a guy sudden emotional outbreak...and another being some one didn't pay for the game.... SCREW YOU LAA! BODOH (with an "H"....so I really mean it!)

Im soo sick of this type of person...bangang...

Happy Birthday to an Old Friend...

Last Monday was the birthday of my dear fren, Farid a.k.a Apek(coz he's a mix blood). I've known him since my early years in Green Road. He's a pretty decent guy...very wise and smart too. Perhaps one of my closest fren in high school. Still remember those days when we use to walk all the way to Civic Center to watch the show in the auditorium.

Any ways last Sunday the 11th, both of us went out for some ABC at Swee Kang before going off to Kompleks to jog. During the jog two other fren, Met n Pearl came by to chill out with us after the jog. I found out on that day too that I know who Met's boyfren is, the guy who use to tought in Lim Kok Wing Putrajaya and now in Kuching branch. He's also responsible for gig this Saturday. On the other hand Pearl keep on insisting me to watch her during the the TimesMiss Fair & Lovely finals at SCV on the 24th. Unfortunately I dont think I can make it coz I'll be attending the Swinburne Nite on that day...Its been a while since I performed.

So when we were eating at the laksa stall at Kpg Boyan Pearl took out this cake from her car...and then I remembered that it was Farid's birthday the next day. They wanted to celebrate him a day before just in case he have plans with some one special tomorrow.

So there it was...the birthday boy wit Met n Pearl.

Hepi Birthday Apek!

Semuanya 'OK'...

Phew....its all done now. Problem solve... settle dah... a-ok.

I got this freelance video shooting that I did for NISSAN a couple of weeks back. It was given by a lecturer who wanted me to do it coz he got another 'gig' some where else at the same time.

I agreed to do it...since money is involve and I'm in the need of cash.

The function was for a NISSAN Sales Convention. The function was originally set for 3 hours...but it finished after 6 hours! Luckily I had brought some extra tapes with me.

My lecturer who came from his function found out about the over-run of the event and decided to charge them more for it.

Heh..hope its worth my time.

This whole week I was trying to edit and author the DVD for the event when every thing starts to fall a part...

The footages were too long to be edited...some people presented for almost an hour and that file alone were about 9GB! That surely wont fit inside a 4.7GB dvd. And then there's still other shots that I need to edit.

So then I had to compress it...and with that came a whole different nightmare.

Compressing a 6-9 minute talk took about 30 minutes... so the 1 hour footage took about 3 hour! Then I've decided to cut out that guy's presentation out from the disc.

All was done..the dvd layout..cover design...cd label...complete...but then my printer ran out of ink...and my burner couldn't build the dvd from Encore.

With the lecturer keep on buzzing me I had no choice but to "disconnect" myself from every one...had to find some private time to finish up the DVD. Got help from a friend who lend me his laptop and another who help me print out the stuffs... Thank god.

Its all done now. I've pass the DVD to the lecturer. Stress relieved...

Semuanya OK... party sampai 6 pagi.. : )

10 thumbs up for 'LELAKI BESI'!!!!

That was AWESOME!!!

Never knew that I would end up watching it twice..in 2 days consecutively....

Watched it yesterday with a fren and tonite I've watched it again with the rest of the gang. Well the reason I went on and watch it again was bcoz yesterday I missed the first 30 minutes of the movie due to some 1's poor decision making process...

Any ways....the effects was terrific... The first time I saw the trailer of Ironman I thought it looked too cartoonish. But the real thing in the cinema.... that was awesome. Realistic...

The storyline was nice.. Didn't felt a single boring moment throughout the movie...

Kinda nice that it introduces the secret government agency(in Marvel Universe), S.H.I.E.L.D, and also a glimpse of future Ironman movies which would incorporate War Machine in them.

Now Im hoping that Incredible Hulk and Legend of the Dark Knight would be as the same standard as 'Lelaki Besi"(as translated by the Malay subtitle...) or perhaps much better.

With Abomination and Joker in those films...I really hope soo...

*FYI - Hulk premiers on my birthday... : )
