RAINFOREST MUSIC FESTIVAL 2009

"Ko mok pegi Rainforest sik? Aku ada tiket free tok..."..,

or sumtin like dat was spoken to me through the phone as I was about to go for my Friday prayers last Friday, 10th July which was also the 1st day of the RAINFOREST WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL 2009(RWMF). So I said yes to the offer since it was a free ticket and I don't really have any thing much to do that night.

My sis's brother in-law was the person who offered the ticket. So at about 5pm later that day I went and pick him and his friend up before heading to Damai. Parked my car at Santubong Resort as no car without a 'special' pass is allowed to drive up beyond that point. There I met a couple of other Uni friends which all of us eventually took the same shuttle to go to RWMF.

We split up after reaching Sarawak Cultural Village(SCV). The three of us went and have a look around the place first...checking out the crowd in front of the stage and stuff. Owh...we arrived at SCV at about 8+pm so after looking around the three of us went to look for some stalls to buy dinner.

Any way after dinner we went back to the stage just to enjoy the music. Went back at 1pm...and reached home at about 4 after a late supper n sending both of them back.

Hmm...it wasn't that good..but it was okay. Maybe coz I wasn't drinking like everybody else that I couldn't enjoy the scene there. I wouldn't even mind if I didn't go pun... : )

REVENGE OF THE FALLEN ROCKS!!!

I just came back from STAR Cineplex to watch...heh..u've guess it...

REVENGE OF THE FALLEN!!!!!

HAH HAAAA......

Finally....a year plus of waiting finally come to an end a few hours ago. Innitially I was suppose to go and watch it with my friends this Friday. Coz were all having our exams and some of us still got a paper on Friday so I'm suppose to like....wait. But I can't any more coz I've been waiting for this movie to come out since last year and it has been my dream to watch it during the FIRST SHOW OF THE FIRST DAY. So I went to watch it by myself just now....of course with a pack cinema hall.

It is as what I've anticipated...plus some more. You should just go and watch it. The effects would blow ur mind away. But there were some scene and storyline that didn't go well with me. I'll give it an 8 out of 10. But I'm still going to watch it with my friends this Friday. There were some scene that I didn't really catch and some other I just love to watch again.

Any ways I just had my first paper yesterday and I have another one this coming Thursday...

Yeap...I still got a paper but I went to watch a movie insteadof studying.

Officially 25

So last Friday, 12th June was my 25th birthday. I'm officially 25 now. So what does that mean? Am I suppose to do sumtin about it?

Heh well for starters maybe I shud focus on finishing my studies since most people that know of my age have done so. I'm like the last of my kind. Going extinct here.. : )

On a more serious(seroius?... me?) note I was sitting at home most of the time on my birthday(REALLY MAN!) coz I didn't know what I'm suppose to do. Well I did went to campus in the afternoon and meet a few frens who did wished me 'happy birthday' and then I went to Dessert coz I've thought of rewarding myself on the day. Then meet another fren before heading home...by 8pm. So as I was looking at my own reflection in the mirror I wonder what am I suppose to do since I'm 25 now? ...get married?(owh..need a girlfren first) ....get a job? (hah haaaa.....need to graduate first)..

I'm 25 but I wonder why I still feel like I'm 15..... I wonder.
15 was a good year...PMR...freedom...easier education....

Talking bout education in 2 weeks time I'll be having my FINALS. Got a Communication Strategy paper and Interactive Multimedia Flash exam. And hopefully, after all that...I'm done with my studies.

Hopefully....

And yet here I am doing this post.... : )

New Kicks!!! : )

Just came back from KL this afternoon. Was there a for about a week since last Weds. Had a cousin's wedding to attend too in Ipoh. I'll update more on that when I have the time. Now there's more important thing to announce....

I GOT A FRESH NEW KICKS!!!

ADIDAS PREDATOR ABSOLADO PS IN DB

Originally I wanted to Buy Nike 5 T7. But seeing that the colour was too appalling ( Green and Red doesn't go very well together dude..), I've decided to get the Predator instead. since the guy in ADIDAS PAVILION told me that "they've" just arrive in KL this week, which means I might be the first to wear them in Kuching. Heh...this would be the first time I own an Adidas shoe.

I haven't been playing futsal for whole month of April due to the reason that my old Tiempo was kinda spoilt. And I purposely didn't fix it up so that I could concentrate on studies, and was hoping to get a new set of kicks as well. Hope I can play better with these babies... : )

Sorry lah.... aku beli dolok... ; )

Fucking Santubong Trip....

I guess I'm just writing this *&%# here coz its the only way I cud let it out. You see me and a bunch of frends was suppose to go for this outing during our mid-term break. The plan was to go and climb Mt. Santubong. Its wasn't my idea but it was suggested by another dude.

So I wasn't all that exited at first since I've climbed it before, but was looking forward for this trip since I miss out on a lot of university planned outings like going to Cultural Village and also Photomedia's Bako trip.

Since we were suppose to go on Monday, i contacted this dude who were "in charge" of the trip the day before. Asking bout what time were suppose to meet up n stuffs. Initially he did replied to my SMSes.... but then later in the evening I received a message saying...

"Xjd...cancel nekik.."
which means the climbing trip has been cancel.

I do admit that by then I was disappointed by the cancellation of the trip but then again I told myself there must be a rational explanation to why the trip has been canceled.

So I asked him...y was it canceled?

And he replied... " due to unavoidable circumstances...."(translated oredy)

So i asked what was that unavoidable circumstances that causes the trip to be cancel...seeing that I beleive I have the right to know...

And he said..."due to unavoidable circumstances...." again!

He answered my call...one which I tried doing for the past couple of hours...asking the very reason why the trip was canceled....

And the only thing he told me was that it had just been canceled....and he was "malas" to go...

So now I'm pissed. Canceling a program just because? With no proper reason?

That's like total BS man....

I'm starting to feel that they're trying to hide sumtin from me.....or sumtin else is happening.

You see I'm not piss that the trip was canceled. I would've been okay if there was a proper reason to it. There is always another time to go there.

But what pisses me off was that they/he did not provide a solid reason to why it was canceled!

And it pisses me off even more since I don't know to who I'm suppose to be pissed!

Hmm...feeling a lil' bit better now....but I'm still piss.

Eksiden agik.....

As I was happily listening to "Thrust You" by Yuna Ito on my phone...as I was turning to a junction near campus I was shocked by a tremble made by my car. At first I thought I had went over the road side...again..

But as I was looking at my rear view mirror I saw a motorcycle laying on the road behind me with 2 guys on the ground. Well the other guy, the one at the back manage to stood up but the other was still on the pavement. So then I realize....

HOLLY CRAP....A HAD JUST BIKE HIT ME!!!!

I parked my car a few meter from the junction before going out and ran towards the guys. The one still on the ground was trying to get up. No he didn't died....just a long cut underneath his chin. Man that's gotta hurt!

So it was told by them that the incident was my fault because I gave the signaling light at the last moment before turning when they were still going forward. I guess it was....but I'm not sure.

Call my mom first...then a couple of frens as I knew I hafta bring him to the clinic or sumtin' and at the moment I only have RM20 with me. But abah manage to come before we left for a clinic. Fortunately enough abah was there to pay the medical charges which cost RM180! The guys had sum stitches on his chin.

Then we headed off to a motorcycle workshop to assess how much damage I hafta fix on his bike. Overall it was within what I've suspected. But this one was paid by me...so there go my KL allowance...

Manage to settle this b4 my 10.30 class... which I didn't have any mood to go to but I just went for it any way... Then had lunch wit a bunch of frens whom I haven't seen for the week.

Actually I kinda knew that sumtin' was about to happen to me while I was leaving home this morning but I wasn't sure what... So now I guess if I ever had any of these intuitions ever again i might as well just stay home.

Problems keep on coming one after another....and lately it's burning my pocket....

22 out of 30!?

Apa laa...just as I was hoping waking up at 4 in the morning would do me any good...I was mistaken. Today I had a FLASH SYNTAX TEST....yeah... It got sumtin' 2 do with Adobe Flash which was what my Interactive Multimedia subject is all about. A part of the Assessment is for this 10% Syntax test..which is about the coding for Flash.

Woke up at 4 in the morning just so that I could revise for the test which was taking place at 11.45am just now. The test is done on the campus server, on the pc. So the marks get directly sent to the system.

So there I was trying to recall what I've learned for the past 5 hour or so.... and after 30 minutes to it I finished the test which was suppose to be completed in a hour. But actually I wasn't the ealiest to get it done coz while I was doing the test some other students all ready left the lab. And to my surprise one girl got 28 out of 30!

Bitch!

Any ways I'm was actually hoping to get at least 25 right for this test. Owh well... I did just studied for it this morning any way. Might as well concentrate on the e-Book which is going to due in 2 weeks time.....which of course I haven't started doing.

A Month Worth of Update...

Just as I expected, once the semester starts and the moment sis goes back to Limbang... my blog would be left updated. For the moment it has been quite busy. I had 3 more subjects to finish up this semester before I could graduate(hopefully) in September. Assignments are pouring in since the 3 week and it seems like there's one due every week.

I'll just put in point form for the moment of what I've been doing and once I really have the time to update this blog, I'll fill 'em in the details.
  • Been coming back and forth to Bintangor on weekends coz a cousin was getting engaged and Mak is staying there for a while to look after grandma.
  • Sis, her husband and Amie came back last week to get a medical check up for lil' Amie. They were here for just a few days. I realize I do miss Amie, since he the first nephew I have at the moment.
  • Been watching a couple of movies, but I guess WATCHMEN would be the best movie I've seen so far after Dark Knight and Ironman. Watched WATCHMEN TWICE!!!! : )
  • Can't really remember much....hmm..

A Quickie in Limbang...

Nah...its not that type of quickie... Its just a short trip I'm going for along with mak, sis and Amie my nephew. The trip is just to send my sister back to Limbang coz there's where she lives with her husband. My sister is a primary school teacher and so does her husband who is a Limbang local. Last December she came back to Kuching coz she wanted to deliver her first child in Kuching. So now its time to go back to her husband's home. Amie was born on the 28th of December by the way.

Me and mak went along coz I'm suppose to be the luggage carrier while mak helps out looking after Amie. We left last Wednesday and will be coming back to Kuching on Saturday. So far there's nothing much to be done in this small town. There's only one shopping mall and it's more like Kuching's Center Point. The only thing keeping me from total boredom is my sis's broadband...which I'll definitely miss when I'm back in Kuching.

At least I finally gets to go out of Kuching for the holidays...even if it was just for a few days before the start of the new semester. ; )

Heh...not to mention I'm gonna miss the little crapper as well... : )

Abah's Sweepstakes

All those entry submission from all the rice purchase my dad did for months suddenly paid off when we were told through a phone call on Friday afternoon that "Mr. Abdul Rashid had won FIRST PLACE in an H&L Sweepstakes". Yeah...H&L as in H&L Supermarket. And the first place prize was a refrigerator.

The whole family was really happy that we could finally replace the old Singer. He's been serving the family for years now. Mak said he was around even before I was born. So I guess its about time for 'him' to retire. He looks old and ungly any way and the lights would burn out after a month or so.

The new 'guy' is a Samsung which was as tall as I am. Guess we could stock up more stuff inside now. And I guess every one in the house would shut up when ever Abah's gonna fill in another sweepstakes forms in the future.

Allahyarham Apeet...dlm Kenangan?

Today marks a whole one year of the day he passed away. Awang Abdul Hafidz a.k.a Apeet. He was a student at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus. He took a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Passed away on the 17th of February 2008.

A couple of Saturdays ago his family did a "Makan Hol" for him. A lot of his relatives and friends to the family came, but surprisingly very few of his friends showed up. There was only me and another fren along with his girl. Which left me with the question...where were his friends?

Where was those Swinburne guys who went to classes with him, or even those who use to chill with him at the cafeteria? The ones who were in the same band as he was?

Where are his skateboarding friends?

Where were those guys who use to play futsal with him?

Where were his schoolmates or childhood friends?

Where were those guys who cried when they saw his lifeless body on the hospital bed last year?

Where were you guys?

To be honest I'm not one of his closest friends but still I took the liberty of trying to know when the ceremony would be held. It seems like....after a while people just seem to care less.
Or perhaps 'they' have more important things to attend to....yeah.

So I guess one day when the time comes, I too shall face this reality. No one cares once you're gone. But I'll try my best to remember 10 Safar as the date a fellow friend passed away.

Amin.

Best Day Ever.... : )

Sunday, 15th February 2009

Ever since my holiday started, I have not felt this much fun...or perhaps enjoyment in a day.

In the morning my family had a "Majlis Doa Selamat & Bercukur" for my little nephew which my sister gave birth to last December. This was quite tiring coz me and Abah was the only man in the house and we stayed till 2am the day before just to rearrange the living room. Rearrange as in clearing the living room from all 3 sofa sets to make space for the guess and those people who shall be doing the doa' and 'bercukur'.

Then the second event which I was more looking forward to was the 'reunion' that I had with my campus friends. I have not seen most of them ever since the holiday started so I was really eager to meet them today. The first meeting point was at Barok @ My Village where we meet for dinner. Second place that we all went was Little Lebanon where most of them wanted to 'Sheesha', except for me of course.

After 'Sheesha' half of them went back while the other half went to watch football. Even though I don't watch football I decided to hang around for a while since going home early wouldn't reward me with anything useful to do any way.

So yeah...I really enjoyed the day.

Yassin untuk Apeet

In Islam, perhaps it the Malay culuture to have a bit of Yassin recital and Tahlil on certain days after a person's passing. The 3rd day, 7th, 20th, 40th and 100th. Then there's the yearly ceremony which is based on 1 year in Islamic calendar. So it has been a year now. A year have passed since the day Awang Abdul Hafidz @ Apeet pass away in that car crash. It has been a year I haven't seen the infamous black Savvy in campus.

Will be going off in a couple of hours to Allahyarham's house in Gitak for the ceremony. Hope to meet friends whom I have not meet for quite a while there.

This post shall enlighten those who would like to know about my fren Apeet.

Street Fighter : The Legend of Chun Li

With the slow connection, its kinda hard to post any new stuff. Haven't done any thing much lately except for some problems with my education...which is clearly my own fault. Any way I stumbled upon this news bit a few weeks ago but just forgot to post it.

Okay... I guess I'm among many that never even heard about the development of this movie. Maybe because I was never into Street Fighter(SF). But who would've guess... a new Street Fighter movie was about to be release in cinemas this February?

This one is called Street Fighter : The Legend of Chun Li. Yeah..from the title you could roughly know that it's about the hot female warrior, Chun Li. And guess who get the chance to play her role? Kristen Kreuk... yeah... that Lana Lang girl from Smallville. Seems like this film stages Chun Li's life before she was involve in SF. So I guess not all of the familiar SF fighters will be in this movie unlike the first failure. But from the trailer and the poster you can see that there's that dude with the mask... what ever his name is.

I have high hopes for this movie due to the way there making it. Rather than making a remake of the 90's SF movie,. The producer took on a different path by exploring a Fighter's story and not bundling all Street Fighters into one movie. Hmm...might just watch it when its RM5.

There's some problem with my layout that's holding back YouTube upload to the blog so if you wanna watch the trailer, click HERE.

FLOODED...AGAIN!!!!

Right as me and mak was on our way back home we discovered that the area which was flooded a few weeks ago is flooded again! We had just passed the traffic light near my neighborhood when we saw the traffic in front of us which has stopped because the roads ahead had been flooded.

Before the road becomes congested we've decided to turn back and switch to the other lane to go back home. Other cars started to follow as they knew there's no way they can cross the flooded road.

Since its still raining I couldn't go out and take any pictures.

Movie Day : Outlander

After days of 'locking' myself inside my house for no apparent reason other than going for CNY visiting a friend's friends house, I finally went out on Wednesday to watch a movie. I wanted to watch Underworld 3 but ended up with Outlander.

Its about this space dude who's spaceship crashed on Earth in Norway during the time of the Vikings. Owh yeah....there were these 'dragon' type creature on board of his ship the it crashed so eventually he had to find the 'dragon' again with the help of the Vikings.

Its an okay movie for me...not that great. But there were some key points that interest me while watching this flick.

  • Movies about inter-galactic 'beings' from another planet coming to Earth is not rare to us. But I think this would be the first time 'they' came to Earth in a different era and not the present moment. (Vikings)
  • Some times I'm annoyed by certain alien flicks with 'aliens' that have a very good command of the English language. So I kinda love the concept of how this dude 'learned' the Norwegian English.

Watch it on a Movie Day, or don't even bother.

One Big Mac, with extra Guilt please

Initially I was suppose to comment on a friend's post but then my comment suddenly grew into a couple of paragraphs and before you know it...a whole post.

The topic was about the boycott on American/Jewish brands in conjunction with the attack on Palestines by the Israelis. Many of my friends did also discussed about this and every one seems to have their own take on the issue. Me on the other hand..is still uncertain.

The thing is that I read early this year I read that the Mufti Besar Johor had declared that it's 'haram' for Muslims in Malaysia if they don't support the boycott. Support in this context was referred to the boycott on American and Jewish made products. There was even a non-government Islamic council that listed a whole list of these so called boycotted products.

Among them was McDonald's, Nokia, Star channel etc...

These product or brands was listed to be boycotted coz they were said to be funding the war attack on Palestines. Hmm....wonder if it's true..

I do know that franchises like McDonald's or KFC have to pay a small amount of fee to the franchisee in America or where ever it originates as a token of appreciation for using their brand image, marketing etc.

But what about the other products?

Then the boycott for these products was meant for Muslims. I was wondering what about the Muslims employees, workers and staffs at these boycotted company. What should they do? Are they suppose to quit their jobs? Wouldn't the boycott be affecting their company? And wouldn't they deserve to be help also apart from our Palestinians brothers and sisters?

Even if it's true that some of the revenue from these companies would be sent to their HQ in the US, I'm pretty sure that the same companies also help to generate revenue and help our very own government. So doesn't the boycott would some how 'cripple' the economic growth of our own country?

So far I haven't been to McDonald's or Starbucks etc.. But last night I did went to KFC to buy dinner. Soo... have I sinned?

FLOODED....

Perhaps some of you have heard it in the news, while some may not. But here it is...from the view of an eye witness....the flood in Batu Kawa. It all started a few days before when it was raining non stop for days. On Saturday I went out at night and came back at 3am when I was passing by this area which is near the u-turn to my place. Residents of this neighborhood had started moving their vehicles on the main road side fearing that there might be a flood coming to their door step.

The road "I'm" standing on is the in-coming lane from the u-turn going back to MJC...Kuching etc. As you can see the cars on the side belongs to the residents of the housing area that got flooded. I guess there glad they did that. Sunday came the news on TV and radio. Since it wasn't that far I decided to walk over and check out the scene.

Home owners looking at their flooded homes.

This would be the part of the housing which was knee-high flooded. There were houses that was flooded neck deep. Obviously I can't go there...

Trucks and pick-ups was the only vehicles able to go into the waters. Some carried people who were "trapped" on the other side...unable to cross the flood on their own rides or feet. The guy on the left just stands there for only god knows why...

The floods goes all the way till the Batu Kawa bridge. Here we can only see it till the corner before the u-turn. Due to the change in weather I decided to go back home.

On the way home, i realize that the residents also 'parked' their beloved pets on the road side.

Some build shelters using pieces of woods while others had the luxury of being sheltered with their master's rides. I did saw some left unattended while some was restrain to the lamp post.

When I was walking back I realize that the traffic flow of the affected road have changed. These use to be a two one-way double-lane roads

but due to the flood which denies entry to the u-turn,, users have no way go to their house on the other side. Both road now became two two-way roads.

Owh...I would like to point out how far I walked. The scene I went to was at the end of the road in this picture. And still, from where I took this picture I'm still 10 minutes walk from my house. I think for the duration of the holiday this would be the farthest I've ever walked. : )

Here's some pics I took with my 5320 using panorama. From the road side till the areas that got flooded.

Owh...in case you're wondering... my house is on the higher grounds so we didn't have anything to worry about. On the other hand Mak and Abah went to Satok early Monday morning and found out that the wet market is literally wet....

Seems like it got sunk in a couple inch of waters too. But as you can see its not as bad as the one in Batu Kawa since the sellers are still in 'business mode'. Well...kena cari makan loo...

She took these with her 5300. Hope things get better in a couple of days.

And that's all from the Chronicles News Network. Till next time.
See ya. ; )

The Internet SUX!

No new updates for now as the broadband connection some how sucks big time!

Can't continue changing the look of the blog also. So the plain white background would stick around for a while.

Just been patiently(due to the slow connection) checking out other blogs like Ngee Khiong's for Gundam updates.

Can't wait to buy new Double O's.
